Expanding Our Services: New Autism
Program
Story by Coordinator of Support
Services, Amber Winkler
South Dakota Achieve continues to
work towards their mission of
“finding innovative ways for people
with disabilities to achieve their
dreams!”
Our most recent endeavor will be the
opening of the Beacon home and
day-service program. The Beacon home
will provide specialized support to
6 men living with autism.
Both the day and residential sites
will feature one-on-one staffing and
specially trained staff to work with and
understand the need of those living with
autism.
Individual sensory therapy plans, social
skill trainings, communication skill
trainings, and visual
schedules will be implemented to support
the men to gain the skills to maximize
their independence and communicate
effectively.
Many new positions are available
including 2 lead staff positions, 6
day-staff positions and 18 residential
staff positions.
The Beacon Home will open May 26th!
